Peruvian Daffodil

When I woke up this morning and went outside to check my garden, I saw this Peruvian Daffodil in bloom.  The latin name is Ismene, and in Austin, this is a late spring, early summer bloomer.  Right now it’s the beginning of May, and the last week has been warm (in the 80′s) and humid.

Of all the different flowers I’ve grown so far, this is one of my favorites, right after the purple passion flower, that began blooming a few weeks ago.

I put these bulbs in just before the last freeze, in early January, and they are located in my Tulip beds.  Plenty of good morning sun, and a lot of water.
