Blogging room redux

So yesterday I posted how my office used to look. Over the last 24 hours I’ve simply moved things around a little to make some drastic changes. I spent absolutely zero dollars in this office makeover. I even used the same nails to re-hang the pictures.

There are three major elements to my office. The roll-top desk, which was my dad’s mom’s, the other desk with the black wrought iron legs (that has the computer) and that desk was my other grandmother’s, and the bookcase.

To start, I moved the roll top desk 90 degrees, from one wall to another. The desks used to be in an “L” shape (see previous post), but for me, that wasn’t the most efficient use of space, or the way I worked.

You see, I’m not a multi-tasker. I prefer to focus on a single task at a time. You won’t see me driving down the highway talking on the phone, drinking a skinny vanilla latte, while adjusting the GPS. I drive. And when I blog, I ignore the phone, emails, and even the dog, to focus on editing the photos, and writing the perfect words. So separating the desks was a natural choice for me. I have a computer desk, and I have a writing desk.

Once the roll top was moved out of the way, I took the bookcases and moved them to the opposing wall. And while I was at it, I re-arranged some of the Ikea storage boxes that are full of office supplies, client items, and personal photos. I think it looks 100% better all ready.

To top it all off, I moved the computer desk off the wall and into the room a bit. This way is much more appealing to me, and fits the flow of the room. Let me tell you, even though there are no drapes, rug, or additional seating, the room is beginning to feel done.

What do you think? I’d love to hear your impressions.

  2. Wow, I love your color-coordinated storage!

  3. What a great space! I immediately noticed the old rangefinder camera on the top of your rolltop desk. My first camera was a Yashika rangefinder … we’ve all evolved a bit since then, haven’t we.
