Introducing the My First Garage Forums!
The more time I spend on-line, looking at remodeling blogs, house repair websites, and decorators, the more I realize that it would be very cool if there was a singular place on-line for all these people to share ideas. Â I’ve got about 100 or so of the best blogs in my Google Reader, and a bunch more listed in the sidebar (let me know if you want me to add your blog – BTW). Â Sometimes I get confused and have a hard time finding a picture, or an article, or some source of inspiration.
So for the past few day’s I’ve put my usual house to-do list on hold and added a brand new section to this website. Â It’s the Forums, and you can get to it by clicking on the tab at the top, or the button on the left, or by entering this into your browser:
http://www.myfirstgarage.com/forums/
Since we just launched today, there aren’t a lot of categories, but I’m counting on you to sign up, introduce yourself (and your blog), and ask/answer a question or two. Â As the place grows, I’ll create new categories based on popular topics and trends.
Right now some of the more popular sections are
- Identify this (where you post a picture and ask where an item came from)
- Favorite Sources of Inspiration (tell us about your favorite blogs) – visible after your register
- Tips, Tricks, Techniques (where you can share how you got the job done)
The MFG forums are different from every other message board out there because we don’t charge members a fee (and never will), I’m not affiliated with any company so I’m not trying to sell you anything, Â and I’m a pretty easy-going guy so almost any topic is OK (except for some completely inappropriate stuff).
So I wish you all a happy 2010, and look forward to connecting with you on the My First Garage Message Boards.
What a great idea! One of my favorite parts of reading other people’s comments on sites like YoungHouseLove is linking up to other blogs and gaining inspiration. Actually, that’s how I ended up here. Having them centralized as a resource is a going to be handy.
