modern country kitchen

Thanks for coming back!

Today, I want to share with you the only photo that both my wife and I agreed on for the inspiration for our new kitchen remodel.

We spend tons of time surfing the web. I sit on the couch with my MacBook Pro, and she browses on the new iPad. At first we tried to schedule some time to both sit down together at the desk, and look together, but with our busy schedules, and priorities, we never seem to have the time to look at kitchen designs together. And when we do, she feels like surfing the Purse Forum and I’m looking at all kinds of other stuff.

But every so often our schedules sync, and when they do, we agree on some of the coolest stuff, don’t you think?

We just love this cottage kitchen.  We found it while surfing the Kitchen design section of Rate my Space (one of our Favorite HGTV shows).

Green, white, light and airy. This modern country kitchen is the main inspiration for our new kitchen design.

There are so many different features to admire – from the chairs, to the table, to the cabinets, to the floor, to the exposed brick.

Check out the chandelier.  Look at the bench seat.  Note the rolling cart.

And the modern touches – a clear plastic chair.  Stainless steel appliances, roman shades.

Don’t forget about the classic vintage kitchen style – the candy jar canisters, open shelves, and vertical plate storage.

A fantastic cottage kitchen

  2. Wonderful inspiration kitchen. I adore cottage charm and vintage design. The color is refreshing! We’ve yet to tackle our kitchen but know what we want. Any consideration to the floors or ceilings? Thanks for sharing. I invite you to enter my giveaway!

Love that kitchen, clean, bright, good combination of traditional and modern, hope you get your dream!

  4. The colors are terrific! I may have to borrow a couple of ideas from this.

  5. I do like that kitchen. I wanted that kind of sink, but our area for a sink was too small. My husband wants an ipad in the worse way, but he needs to wait until the appliances from our kitchen remodel are paid for. LOL Thanks for your comments on my blog.

I LOVE THE COLORS AND I LOVE THE SINK.

…AND THE FLOORS TOO. THEY REALLY TIE THE TWO AREAS TOGETHER, YET THEY CHANDELIERS GIVE THEM THEIR OWN SPACE.

    GREAT JOB!

I really like the wainscoting “backsplash” on the wall as an alternative to tiles. Neat idea. Also love the open cabinets. It’s amazing how much more open a space feels when you take away doors! Good choice for inspiration.

Another thought: have you two considered keeping your cabinets white and painting the floor as a subtle way to infuse color? Check out this post that has several great ideas: http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/gallery-painted-kitchen-floors-093638

  9. I would love to have this kitchen! It’s lovely. It’s great that you could agree on an inspiration, we never do…
