OMG! Super cute!
Love the police line one.
You’d asked on my blog whether I move my winter-sown trays into the garage to encourage faster growth. No, as the containers have top holes and moisture HAS to get in, and they need natural light. The whole idea in winter-sowing is to work with Mother Nature, not against her, so seeds each sprout on their own natural timeframe. They are already hardy and ready to plant out when they get their true leaves. For example, tomatoes started indoors come up way earlier (say in February, whereas my winter-sown ones came up around April 23 last year)… but while indoor sowers are waiting to plant out/harden off by May, mine end up the same size in that month, too. Artificial lights and warmth encourage vegetative growth at the expense of root growth and in essence weakens the plant. Same goes for over fertilization.
Wow, thanks for the detailed answer! I still bring in some of my starts from sundown to sun-up. The garage isn’t heated, but also doesn’t get quite as cold. I guess my thought is to acclimate them to a bit warmer climes, than cold. The best part is if it doesn’t work this year, I can try something different next
These are so cute! And a little disturbing… lol
